Apply For Your Clarity Assessment | The AFYA Effect
For the Woman Who Has Audacious Personal, Professional, and Legacy Dreams & Responsibilities and is Ready To Get Answers

You can no longer afford to keep getting your mental & physical health and healthcare wrong!

Those persistent symptoms, illnesses, and diagnoses — the doing "everything right" but nothing works, the medication side effects, the "treatment resistance" — what if they are simply a failure to investigate?

Complimentary ~5 minutes to apply

This is your mental and physical health — and life — turning point.

What to expect

What happens on the Clarity Assessment Call?

A complimentary 20–30 minute phone consultation with Dr. Devin N. Bailey, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, CFPP, DipACLM. An open, no-pressure conversation designed to do two things:

01 Identify

The potential causes & contributors

We look at what may be driving those persistent, negative mental and physical health symptoms, illnesses, and diagnoses you've been experiencing.

02 Determine

Your next best step

We decide, together, what comes next — whether that's our boutique investigative program, Journey Back To AFYA: THE BLUEPRINT, or not.

Because our approach is highly personalized, we work with a limited number of patients at a time. That's why we begin with the Clarity Assessment Call, to determine appropriateness and mutual fit.

Does this sound like you?

This call is for you if you're ready to get answers.

What's causing or contributing to those persistent symptoms, illnesses, and diagnoses such as...

Depression, anxiety, mood swings, ADHD, irritability — despite treatment.

Medications that aren't working, or medication side effects.

On 3+ medications, or tried 2+ for the same condition.

You've been labeled "treatment resistant."

Being told your labs look "normal" when you know something isn't right.

Brain fog and exhaustion. All. Of. The. Time.

Distracted, unmotivated, on edge, unfocused — all over the place.

Gut issues, IBS, bloating; joint pain or autoimmune conditions.

Burnout, missed days, a decline in your business or revenue.

Being dismissed by doctors when you say something is off.

A decline in your overall health — and even your hope.

Doing "everything right" and nothing seems to be working.

In their words

Women who stopped guessing — and got answers.

Functional & Integrative Psychiatry | Lifestyle & Preventive Medicine Specialist

After 16 years practicing nursing, family, and psychiatric medicine, I've seen the gap between what Black Americans and other historically marginalized people experience and what quality healthcare actually looks like. That gap ends here.

I don't just look at your body, or your mind, or your lifestyle. I integrate psychiatry, physical health, labs, lifestyle, and prevention to identify the source of symptoms — not just manage or cover them up.

You're not broken, "difficult," "too much," or "treatment resistant." You've just never had the right eyes on your health.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered honestly.

Why is this Black-centered care? Do I have to be Black, or a woman?
Our clinic is intentionally centered on the health experiences of Black (African) Americans, because the data is undeniable: Black men, women, and children face dismissal, misdiagnosis, and delayed treatment at alarming rates — even with the same symptoms as other patients. No, you don't have to be Black or a woman to be a patient. You do need to align with our philosophy: that your symptoms deserve thorough investigation, that you want to be seen as a whole person, that you value evidence-based medicine, and that you respect why cultural competency matters. Our root-cause methods and commitment to dignity benefit everyone.
What actually happens on the Clarity Assessment?
It's a clarity conversation, not a medical visit. We identify potential drivers of the persistent symptoms you've been experiencing, and we determine the next best step on your journey — whether that's working with us through Journey Back To AFYA, or not. If we're aligned, we'll talk next steps. If we're not, you'll know intuitively, and I'll confirm.
Do you take insurance?
The Clarity Assessment is complimentary. For our program, we do not take insurance. I provide premium, direct-pay care because insurance-based medicine doesn't allow the time, depth, or investigation complex concerns require. Insurance can still cover labs, imaging, referrals, and prescriptions per your benefits, and we provide a Super Bill you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. We accept HSA/FSA/Credit/Debit/ACH.
Why is your care direct-pay?
Because 15-minute appointments cannot solve multi-system problems. My patients are often those who've already done "everything right" and still don't have answers. Getting to answers requires longer access, deeper investigation, thoughtful interpretation, and ongoing partnership. Direct-pay gives us the time and flexibility to do that properly.
Do you prescribe medications?
Yes. We practice evidence-based medicine, and we believe in science. Our clinic is not anti-medication — it is anti-recommendation without investigation. Medications, when appropriate, are used to stabilize symptoms while we work to understand why those symptoms exist and how to address them long-term.
What makes your approach different from traditional psychiatry?
I practice functional and integrative psychiatry, grounded in evidence-based medicine, lifestyle and preventive medicine, and whole-person investigation. Mental health is never treated separately from physical health, so I consider inflammation, hormones, gut-brain health, micronutrients, genetics, lifestyle, stress, trauma, culture, and faith. This is root-cause investigation, not symptom suppression.
What kinds of testing do you run?
Testing is guided by your clinical presentation — not a one-size-fits-all panel. Depending on your needs, it may include advanced metabolic and inflammatory markers, micronutrient assessment, hormonal evaluation (DUTCH), gut health testing (GI-MAP), and genetic considerations (3x4 Genetics, GeneSight, Genomind, MTHFR, COMT). Every recommendation is explained, intentional, and evidence-informed.
Is this care faith-based?
My work is faith-integrated, but not faith-imposed — an important distinction, because religious trauma is real. We honor spirituality and faith as part of whole-person health for those who desire it. If faith is meaningful to you, it can be part of your care. If it's not, your care remains respectful and professional.
Who is this care not for?
This may not be the right fit if you want a single prescription or supplement to fix everything, prefer brief transactional appointments, aren't open to lifestyle or preventive care, don't believe in evidence-based medicine, or are in an acute crisis needing urgent or emergency care. This isn't judgment — it's alignment. Healthy relationships only exist when alignment exists.

You are ready the moment you decide.

If you've read this and feel relief, not resistance — that's your signal. Apply for your complimentary Clarity Assessment, and take the first real step toward answers.
